Concept Ideas

All right guys. I figured I'd write out some of my ideas for the game as far as gameplay/concept/story.
I know you said you had an idea as far as back story and such, Francis, but we didn't get to that during our little meeting, so this is what I've thought up. Let me know what you guys think.

I think it would be easier in our time constraint if you can't pick sides and by default always play as the same
faction. I don't know if multiplayer is going to be an option here (something to talk about), but if it's not I
believe it will be easier this way.

So Francis was saying that the Earth would be visible in the background. If that's so, would our game be taking
place on the moon? Maybe the Earth got so jacked up that just about everyone died, and the surviving humans terraformed the moon, and started living there? Also, a possibility is what if it still looks like the moon, and
there are big bubble structures where they have plants growing for air. But that conflicts with my other idea about the two factions fighting over polluting the moon's new atmosphere.

I also think if we are going to have water in this game, and even an ocean maybe (like in my concept drawing) that it couldn't be the moon, because where did all the water come from? Perhaps we could have this set like,
way, WAY in the future, and the moon has since turned into a planet like what Earth was. I don't think that is possible seeing as the moon is just a big rock, but I don't know. I'm just ranting, but I think it's something
we have to figure out. I'm just going to keep referring to the planet as the moon for now, as it works as the
size we are going for.

The moon has been terraformed and has an atmosphere. The side the player is controlling want to use mostly solar
and wind power, so the moon doesn't get all fucked up like the Earth did. (Ooh! Just got an idea, if the Earth is
going to be visible behind the moon, maybe it could be all charred and burnt and messed up looking). Anyway they are fighting the other side because they are using fossil fuels, and don't care about the new atmosphere. But the question is why they are using fossil fuels? Well, I was thinking that maybe they like car racing and running around with gas-powered cars and motorcycles.

So I'm thinking that when you start the game there has to be an area where you erect your buildings and make your
base. If possible, I think it would be cool if you could pick from two or three spots on the globe to have your
base, maybe the forest, desert, or ocean-side for instance. Perhaps the enemy base would already be partially
there, so you wouldn't want your base right next to theirs, or too far away that you couldn't go attack them
bitches.

Faction 1:
This is who you would be controlling. These are the people who (try to use) solar energy and wind power.

I think it would be cool if you have to build a section for just 'civilians". Maybe you have to build a big
section with a wall around it, and inside are houses and crops and such. If there is time, or if not maybe during
round 2, we could add civilians just walking around doing stuff liker gathering food and children playing. They
obviously need food. So we could have fields, like in Matt's concept, and maybe greenhouses where they grow food
using hydroponics. Or we could have fruit trees.

There are three options for power. Wind farms, Solar power, and coal. As I said before, these people are
worried about the atmosphere, so they would not want coal. Perhaps it could be an option, but there are
downsides, like your solders can't move as fast because burning coal jacks up their lungs?

There are quite a few alternative energy methods out there, but We aren't going to be able to use some of them
because of programming/modeling/animation limitations as we are only a 4 person team. But here are all the
methods I know about/could find on Google; Nuclear, Hydroelectricity, Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Oceanic thermal
energy conversion, Bioenergy, Wave power, and Tidal Power. Geothermal might be a god on to include.

As for weapons, I think we should try to think of something rather than a "ray gun, or you run of the mill
bullets" Perhaps some kind of environmentally friendly weapon? That actually sounds pretty ridiculous now that
I think about it. Oh, another thing, one of the things I assume the player needs to build is a mine to get
materials to build everything and a factory to make the weapons.

So I know we were talking about three different classes of solders. But as far as vechiles, are we going to
have only tanks? I'm assuming anything else would be difficult to animate solders getting in and out of a jeep
or personnel carrier of some sort. I think it would be cool if the tanks had solar panels and such. I mean I'm
guessing it would have a battery that can be recharged at our base's power station, or maybe we aren't even going
to get that complicated.

Also I was thinking about the actual gameplay. We have to figure out how we are going to handle shooting, and
explosions and such. I guess we are going to need things to explode, so we will need an animation for that, and
the tanks and buildings are going to need to be able to be destroyed, which means some sort of damaged model in
addition to the usual one. I don't think we need an animation of it being built, we could just have workers
standing around it and a loading bar type thing? Which reminds me, we need a worker model, that could probably
just be used for anything, like mining, crops, building and repairing and such.

Thats about all i can think of for the first faction.

Faction 2: The enemy.

So I think all they would need is barracks, a factory, and a few pumping stations (for fuel). Like I said before, they could just be some dirty bad-ass looking fuckers who look like the bad guys from the Mad Max movies. I guess we are going to have to figure out how often they attack, and how they build up their resources, and all that. Wow, the more I think all this out and get it all written down the more I realize how big of an undertaking all this is. BUT WE CAN DO IT!! Haha, sorry, I'm tired and just really excited about this project. :)

So anyways, I guess that's what I got.
